Four Rwandese nationals and two Kenyans arrested on Monday by officers from the Flying Squad Unit with 50 kilograms of fake gold in Kilimani have been detained for three days.

The six Grace Wairimu Machatha, Erasocs Katiku Josiah , Niyitegeka Sevelin, Dushimiriman Aegie , Zilimwabagabu Jacrries and Ngagagura Emmanue are being investigated in a case of being in possession of fake gold nuggets contrary to section 203 Mining Act 12 of 2016 Laws of Kenya.

They include four Rwandese nationals and two Kenyans were yesterday detained by Senior Resident MagistrateMuthoni Nzibe for three days pending the conclusion of investigations.

According to the miscellaneous application presented before the court this morning , that the investigating officer intends to contact more witnesses who have probably been defrauded  by the six suspects using the said fake gold nuggets.

Flying Squad Unit investigation officers told the court that the six will lead the investigating team to apprehend other suspects who are still at large and are believed to be hiding within Nairobi and other towns.

“On April 15, 2019 Flying Squad Officers acting on information from the members of the public went to Lenana 51 Apartments along Lenana Road within Kilimani area and managed to arrest all the six suspects,” court heard

The suspects are aged between 26 years and 64 years.

Meanwhile, a prison warder has been detained for five days by the courts pending the completion of investigations.

Joseph Dida Gumi was arraigned before Nzibe where the police made an application to detain them for seven days pending the completion of the investigation.

According to an affidavit by William Kibue, the suspect is a police imposter who claimed that he is from Central/Kamukunji police station harassing citizens in pretense of arresting them.

He is said to have demanded for a bribe to release complainant Joe Gakure where he was given Sh 4,000 to get his freedom.

The court heard that the suspect’s accomplices who are still at large and are being sought by the police.

The warder was arrested after a businessman Joe reported at central police station that the suspect jointly with others had said that he will release them.

He is said that together with other police officers from kamukunji police station and flying Squad arrested and handcuffed him and threatened to arraign him in court with several charges.
