After going for six months without pay, Magic Security Guards have joined the Kenya National Private Security Workers Union (KNPSWU)
The over workers who have been hired to guard several installation owned by Nairobi County have gone without pay since last year.
The workers have now joined dozens of other private security companies who are members of the union advocating for the rights of guards across the country
Following the move the employer (Magic Security Guard) agreed to embrace dialogue and has promised to pay the pending salary arrears by 25th Friday, May, 2019.
The General Secretary KNPSWU Isaac Andabwa called on the CS interior and national coordination Fred Matiang’i and Director General Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA)Fazul Mohammed to move with haste and operationalize the private security regulation act 2016.
The bill is bound to bring radical reforms in the sector and whip out all rogue and non- complying employers.
“You cannot subject guards to hunger, mental stress and none payment of salaries six months down the line, then start intimidating, threatening and victimizing guards on the grounds of associating with the Union,”said Andabwa
Whether members or non-members of the union, we will not tolerate but whistle blow and pile pressure on these Employers to comply,” he added
Andabwa thanked the Magic Security Guards for standing out boldly and demanding without fear or favor what belongs to them.
The guards also subscribed to the National Walinzi Sacco that enhances workers savings
