The County Government of Nyeri has embarked on a civic education training and capacity building for it’s officers.
The County has partnered with the Kenya Devolution Support Program to ensure over 400 staff being trained on matters of devolution.
The three day training kicked off today in all eight sub counties of Nyeri and will end on Wednesday this week.
Ward and Sub County Officers are part of the Trainers of Trainers who were trained under the KDSP Programme.
Nyeri County was ranked number two nationally by World Bank which attracted Sh 229 Million for funding county projects.
Nyeri County Secretary Ben Gachichio while officially opening the training said the training of officers will ensure staff meet the Key Result Areas needed.
KDSP ensures the staff has the capacity needed to be able to deliver expectations of Wanjiku.
The key focus by County Government of Nyeri includes Public Finance Management, Planning, Monitoring and evaluation, Human Resources and Performance Management.
Also focuses on devolution and intergovernmental relations and Civic engagement and public participation.
The County Secretary also promised to ensure that the civic education and public participation will be rolled out to village level.
