The County of Nyeri has started a program that will impact knowledge on devolution to school going childrens.
Students will be taught on the structures,function and formation of the County Government
Speaking to Students of St. Monica Munyaka Girls Secondary School from Kieni East Sub County,Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga said knowledge on devolution should be impacted on young people from a tender age.
“The knowledge will enable students to have a better understanding how the County Government of Nyeri is run, functions of different departments, their responsibilities and rights as citizens,” said Kahiga
The Governor noted that young people should be sensitized about corruption in the broader sense with a bid of preparing a corrupt free generation and society. He urged them to stay focused on their dreams and work hard and smart to achieve them.
The County Education Director Sabina Aroni who accompanied them urged the students to take education seriously as it gives them the right skills and attitude that will make them desirable for employment and creating employment for others.
She added that the young learners should prepare and make themselves relevant for the future as they will be holding positions currently held by their parents in private and public sector.
Also present were CECs Education Margret Macharia, Infrastructure Muthui Kariuki and Chief Officer Public Service Pauline Ndegwa among others.
